Soft furnishings are exactly what you think they are… sofas, throw rugs, chairs, paintings, table lamps, books, all that beautiful decor that would be packed up if you were moving haus. Basically, every item in your home that’s NOT attached to a wall, floor or ceiling! We LOVE to buy Canadian, support local and shop in a bricks & mortar store whenever possible. Being able to feel textures, see sizes IRL and chat to a sales person with any questions, is still an unmatched experience in our opinion. These are some of our favourite local YEG stores (Edmonton and its surrounding areas) that we love to shop at when staging a reno project or when we “need” some new decor items for our own homes!

SIGNATURE LANE FURNITURE - Edmonton, AB
Locally owned in west Edmonton we love Signature Lane for their vast selection of different brands, items, and customization options! We’ve ordered custom barstools and tables for both of our homes from the brand TRICA. Trica’s furniture quality has been truly fantastic, holding up to daily use in my kitchen and scrap room since 2017, and since 2024 in Claudia’s office. The barstools we both have are the DAY, and I have 2 custom Marshmallow stools. We also love that you can buy directly off their sales floor, meaning you can walk out with your new purchase that day if it’s what you’re looking for. And their showroom is always changing, so there is always a new piece to lust over every time we go in! Brianne has been our go-to gal when we shop, but all the staff is wonderful and with Hallo Haus Studio being a family run biz, we LOVE supporting a fellow family run biz!!

SIMONE & IVY - St. Albert, AB
I might be a bit biased because I was a sales associate at Simone & Ivy a few years ago, but their store is truly what decor dreams are made of!! Leanne & Heather (love y’all!!) have built a gorgeous and thriving women-founded, owned and operated business, which is amazing. As girls’ girls, shopping at Simone & Ivy is really a no brainer for us. They carry a variety of thoughtfully curated Canadian brands offering Canadian-made furniture (yay, eh?!), and the showroom is always beautiful and homey, especially around the Christmas season! They have gorge small home decor accessories and all their Faux Greenery options look very realistic and “non-faux” (see my olive branches below)! Claudia bought the Barrow Dining Chair in ‘White Mist’ for her kitchen chairs, they were a bit of a splurge for her, but they have worn amazingly, (they still look brand new!!) and are the perfect texture and colour. Plus they always get compliments about how comfy they are, and they’re on wheels… who doesn’t love a rolly chair?! Simone & Ivy ships Canada wide, so definitely give their website a browse if you can’t make it into their dreamy showroom!

SOFALAND - Edmonton, Sherwood Park + Calgary AB
When we were shopping around for new couches for my living room and basement, Sofaland was our first stop. Claudia sat on every single couch they had in the showroom!! They are second-generation family owned and operated, offering quality furniture at an affordable price point. We can personally attest to that, as we both have Sofaland couches in our haus’s that are beyond comfy, wear super well and have a great depth (we love a deep couch esp. for napping!), all big factors for us when sofa shopping. My basement couch, the Jerome Sectional, has seen many movie nights, football game parties, sleepovers and people/dog naps! I fear my kids will fight over who gets to take it when I’m gone lol… it is a fan fave and has served our family so well since our reno! My library furniture was exactly what I wanted, sadly they no longer carry my exact ottoman or chairs, but the Mel Chair is very similar! They still have our super cute “fluffy stools”, the Jolie Ottoman, Claudia chose white for her room (at my house, now our guest room!), and I went with dark grey for our primary bedroom! Claudia bought the Dapper Sectional and Joni Storage Ottoman for her living room. The Sofaland staff have always been so friendly, knowledgable and helpful when we’ve shopped, and their product hold/delivery program is the best. We both had delays during our haus renos and both times Sofaland had no problem holding our couches, at no extra charge! They also offer home delivery, which includes building/set-up of your furniture piece which we love since big items, like couches, can be awkward to deal with!

RESIDE FURNISHINGS - Edmonton, AB
We love fun words here at Hallo Haus Studio, so when we read “eclecticism” on Reside’s website we knew we had found our people. They truly do have an eclectic and vast catalog, and with their philosophy of ‘mixing and matching styles, colours, patterns, and design periods’ you can really find something for any decor style. I custom ordered these black velvet with silver studs occasional chairs. They also only source Canadian brands, which we again, think is just great, eh!

OLD STRATHCONA ANTIQUE MALL - Edmonton, AB
We have spent countless afternoons wandering around the treasure trove that is the Old Strathcona Antique Mall, getting lost amongst the 300+ booths they offer! It is western Canada’s largest antique mall, offering thousands of unique vintage trinkets and antique quality collectibles that we love to sift through. They also sell online and have a request tab where they can help you source whatever it is you might be looking for! We have had many conversations over colourful 60’s glassware, early 2000’s kid’s toys, and items that obviously came from a different place in the world, sondering about who previously owned this item, what it was used for, how it might have been styled, how it got here. There is literally everything you could ever want; greeting cards, DVDs, toys, jewelry, clothing, decor items of any size and even furniture pieces. We love to buy antique wood frames here as they have such an assortment of sizes at a great price point, and a lot of times it is only the frame being sold, making it perfect for DIY art, like the ‘Disneyworld’ art- Claudia designed the print, and the frame was an empty one we found and painted white! Claudia also found a vintage ’60’s Universal Studios felt flag, cake stands, and a pink textured vase. I found a black rotary phone and have added to both my collection of dice and globes with funky finds from here. We love reusing items and giving them a second life in a new home!

FIND. - Edmonton, AB
Another great find, FIND. in Edmonton! It is a retail & donation centre with 100% of proceeds going towards Homeward Trust Edmonton, helping people in our city move out of homelessness. We have spent afternoons here as well, perusing the isles of books (this is our fave place in the city to buy used books for staging!!), games, dishware, retro furniture, cool mirrors and “old” media like records. They have tons of their inventory online, and their website and branding is SO so good! Like I said, we have bought so many books for staging here, they usually have $1 and $2 tables stacked with hardcovers, which is the best to style with! Claudia bought some cassette tapes to use for a DIY art paint project. A local thrift shop with a great cause, awesome items and killer branding? We’re obsessed and couldn’t recommend FIND. more!

SHOP CHOP - Edmonton, AB
Shop Chop, our Pinterest dreams come true in a store in DT YEG! Everything here is just cool. We originally went in because we saw a post about a pink date block calendar they sold on IG, and we had to have one! I still have it in my office today… Claudia tried to take it to her new haus but was unsuccessful. Shop Chop has everything you could need for a vibe-y house; plants, home good trinkets, art, dish ware and candles, they have beauty products, stationary and paper goods, jewelry and fashion accessories. They also sell online if you want to pick up something to fulfill your Pinterest dream!

So there ya have it… 7 of our favourite places to shop for soft furnishings (and accessories!) in YEG!! Again, we love supporting local small businesses, so if you have anywhere in the city you love to shop that we didn’t mention please leave us a comment below or over on instagram! If you’re local definitely go grab an iced coffee and wander around these stores, and if you’re not local check out their online shops!
Happy shopping,
